McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
7301 E. Indian Bend Road
Scottsdale, AZ 85250
Looking for a family activity that will appeal to everybody regardless of age and sex? Then the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park has some of the most unique activities around.
Only at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park can guests get a ride on an actual train, catch a ride on a carousel, check out a couple of museums and finish off the day by having a picnic.
The Paradise and Pacific Railroad was the park's first attraction and has continued to be its main centerpiece. The railroad is an exact replica of a Colorado narrow gauge railroad and takes riders along a one mile track. The train also features two diesel engines, three steam locomotives and several cars to give riders a true train riding experience.
Pretty much everybody has experienced riding a carousel during their childhood and now you have a chance to relive those memories by taking a ride on the Scottsdale Charro Carousel. The carousel was originally built in 1950 and features 30 horses and two wheelchair chariots. It was purchased by the Scottsdale Railroad and Mechanical Society and refurbished before being donated to the park.
The park also features two playground areas which are perfect for those kids that are looking to run off a little bit of that excess energy. One of the playground features ladders, slides and swings while the other playground features a distinct Southwestern flavor and adobe style structures. There are plenty of benches surrounding each playground so parents can keep an eye on their children.
Searching for a place to get that perfect souvenir? Then Hartley's General Store is the perfect place to start. In addition to souvenirs from Thomas the tank and Brio, the store also features things such as hand-dipped ice cream, hot dogs and Icee drinks.
For those that have always had a fascination with railroads, the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is a must see.
